Synchronous rectification is a new technology that uses dedicated power MOSFETs with extremely low on state resistance to replace rectifier diodes and reduce rectification losses. It can greatly improve the efficiency of DC/DC converters and there is no dead zone voltage caused by Schottky barrier voltage. Power MOSFETs belong to voltage controlled devices, and their volt ampere characteristics exhibit a linear relationship during conduction. When using power MOSFETs as rectifiers, it is required that the gate voltage must be synchronized with the phase of the rectified voltage in order to complete the rectification function, hence it is called synchronous rectification.
